Potty Cover Giveaway

Congratulations Katrina!

Summer is in full swing and like most people here in New Jersey, my family is often outdoors. Whether it's a trip to the park, craft show, zoo, carnival, beach and even farms, my children are all excited to go. Once in our destination, it will be time for the awesome treats such as italian ices, lemonade, cakes, pies and everything on a stick. Before you know it, it will be time for the dreaded portable public toilets. Yup whether we like it or not, moms and even dads have to deal with this.

Though my bag is always filled with essentials such as wipes, tissue and sometimes diaper lines, I must admit I'm still clueless on what works best for those mean, green, germ haven machine. Then comes my new BFF PottyCover.

Potty Cover

PottyCover are disposable toilet seat liners with plastic coating which makes it waterproof and sturdier than the paper version we are more familiar with. It not only covers the top but the sides and front of the seat as well. Thus it is also perfect for portable toilets. The full coverage design makes it very helpful to those with small children who are in the process of learning to use the potty or who are not big enough for the stardard toilet seat. These liners are even large enough for adults to use. Since each PottyCover is individually package, I find it very convenient  and doesn't take much space in my bag.  At $5.99 for a pack of 6, I would say it is reasonable enough to have on hand especially during this busy travel season.

The PottyCover is now available at Amazon, Ebay, Buy Buy Baby and selected Bed Bath & Beyond stores.  However, One lucky reader will have the chance to try PottyCover for FREE.  Simply tell me Where do you intend to bring the Potty Cover this summer in the comment.

What are you waiting for? This giveaway ends on August 2, 2012 11pm EST.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com

Healthy Eating for Kids E-Cookbook

This 2012, I promised to prioritize healthy eating for the kids, my husband and me.  I confess I am not a big fan of fruits and vegetables as a kid. While growing up though, my mom would "sneak in" the necessary vitamins and nutrients I need by making countless fruit shakes and egg rolls. Egg rolls? Yes, my mom would stir fry assorted veggies, wrap it in rice paper or lumpia wrapper and deep fry it until golden brown and crunchy. YUM!!!!

Looking back, I'm so thankful for what she did. However, just imagining all the sugar and oil I've already consumed before I reach the age of 20 just made me cringe. Thank God, I was an athlete then and until now my cholesterol and sugar levels are fine! Now that I have children of my own, I realized that I just don't have the task of preparing healthy meals. I also have to be EXTRA creative with the recipes and presentation of food I'm serving in the house. With 6 different taste buds to satisfy, 4 of which are under the age of 10, having a menu that's both tasty, budget-friendly and of course nutritious can be daunting task. That's why when I had the chance to get a copy of this book Healthy Eating for Kids,I immediately tested most of the recipes.

I love how this ebook focuses on easy to prepare recipes using common ingredients that most of us already have on hand which can be within 15-25 mins. With names such as Hulk Juice, Happy Face Snack and Walk the Plank Dip, it surely made my children curious to try something new. Some recipes even allow the kids to "prepare" the food "their" way. If you have child who freaks out at the mere sight of fruits and veggies on their plate like my kid #2, this book has sneaky recipes for familiar foods like Mac and Cheese, Chicken and Spaghetti Sauce. The ebook even provides some suggestions on how to serve each dish with pizzazz. Oh, I just wish the author included real photos in the ebook!

For a collection of 60 healthy, affordable and easy to prepare recipes, I think the $9.95 download amount pays for itself. With at least 9 recipes each for Snacks, Drinks, At Home Lunch, Packed Lunches, Dinner and even Desserts, any busy parent can build a weekly menu around this book and feel good about it. To get your copy now just go to
www.healthyeatingforkids.com. They even provided a money back guarantee within 8 weeks if you or your kids are not completely satisfied. What are you waiting for?

Book Review - How to Wordpress - 10 Easy Steps to Creating a Killer Website using Wordpress

I have been out of blogging for a while because I decided it was the time for me to do some reading and learning.  Now that I'm back, I'm happy to share with you what I have read in the past weeks.  Let me start with this book by Ciprian Gherghescu.

I've been with Blogger for more than a year and I've been maintaining my Jaydemia website for more than 4 years now.  As most of us already know, Wordpress is also one of the most used blogging tools and I was determined to find out more about it.  This book with a very direct title and a Step by Step style seems to answer the endless questions I have as a Wordpress newbie.

I like that the book has short chapters, illustrations, budget examples and links of service providers.  It even gives advice on how and where to a list your new website for more exposure.

Over all though, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the book. As someone who do not have prior knowledge about Wordpress, this book hasn't fully explained what Wordpress is in a manner that can easily be understood.   Also, the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org what not given much attention.

After reading the book for a dozen times, there were questions that seemed left answered such as:
1. Is Wordpress a website template tool which I just add when I have my domain and hosting?
2. What's the difference of just having a Wordpress account?
3. What make is more affordable than using the templates provided by hosting services?

In the end, I suggest that a simplier manner is always better for a how to book. Specifics are very important.  If the writer has gone through the process of actually creating an example website like that of a hair salon from getting a domain name to finish with illustrations, it will be most beneficial to the reader.

Prefense Hand Sanitizer Review and Giveaway

With 4 young kids and is always on the go, our household goes thru bottles of hand sanitizers and wipes like crazy.  The constant washing and sanitizing leaves my hands very dry.  That's why I'm so excited when I receive my sample of Prefense Alcohol-free Hand Sanitizer.   What makes Prefense different from other brands out there?

•  Prefense is made of all-natural ingredients and has NO alcohol in it!

• It protects against staph, strep, E.coli, drug resistant MRSA strains, and more for 24 hours or 10 hand washings!

• Prefense is non-toxic and safe for kids!
• Prefense is silica based which means it doesn’t dry out your hands like traditional alcohol sanitizers. It actually smooths and softens your hands. You can totally see this when you apply it!

After a week of using the product, I can say that I like it because it doesn't make my hands feel dry after each use.  Also, I find it more economical because the foam gives me control on the amount to use.  No more spills.  One thing, I truly miss though is the fresh scent I get from the other hand sanitizers.

The generous people at Prefense would like one of my US readers to get a chance to try an 8 oz bottle of Prefense Hand Sanitizer.  On the comment section below, let me know why you like to try Prefense.

Natural Cleaning Products - Review and Giveaway

I was fortunate to receive a copy of this ebook  The Peaceful Housewife Natural Household Cleaners by Jenny Deramo.  As someone with a crazy schedule, I find this ebook so handy especially when I ran out of cleaning items around the house. Most of the cleansers here can be made using products we already have at home.  In fact, it only uses small quantities of otherwise thrown away daily items like that tiny piece of bathsoap that no one wants to use anymore. It's perfect for all the frugal girls like me who loves to stretch their budget.

The instructions in this ebook were direct and easy to follow.  In fact, I find it as a great guide to teach fun and practical science to younger kids too.

Jenny from the Peaceful Housewife is so generous that she is giving away a free copy of the ebook to one of my readers.  Here are the ways on how to join:

1. Post a comment on why this Ebook would help you.
2. Follow my blog and let me know you did in a separate comment.
3. Tweet about this giveaway. Don't forget to include @jaydemia .  Let me know by adding another comment too.
4. Tell your facebook friends about this giveaway.

The winner will be picked via random.org on Oct 20, 2011 5pm EST.

Good luck!

Designerliners - Product Review and Giveaway

Have you ever been in this situation where you buy a pretty and even expensive trash can and eventually cover it up with a white trash bag liner?   I do!   There's just no choice but to choose practicality over design right?  Then came Designerliners.

Designerliners are trash bag liners which are decorative and stylish.  Available in a variety of patterns and colors, there's always one that will match your room's decor.  Just in case, you wanted a particular print or even your business logo, they also accept custom design orders.

When I got my sample of Designerliners, the first thing I wanted to find out is the quality of the product.  I've already learned (the hard way) that when choosing which trash bags to buy, the cheapest isn't always the best choice.   The red plaid design was printed well.  No white spots or streaks.  To my big surprise too, the trash bags I received are thicker than the pricey trashbags we often buy.  So instead of using the liners for the office or bathroom trash cans,  I decided to put it into a real test -kitchen garbage can.  Oh did I mention that I cook a lot and there are 4 young kids in my house?

After 12 hours of abuse, when it's time to take out the trash, I'm glad to find out that Designerliners are not just pretty but an economical one too.  The bag is sturdy and doesn't easily tear even when it's almost filled to the brim. That's not all, Designerliners are also biodegradable and recyclable. Something to smile about "green" people.

The Designerliners team is so generous that they are giving 1 pack (12 liners) for FREE to one of my readers to try.   Simply visit http://www.designerliners.com/ and let me know in the comment section below, which print will look best in your room.

Product Review: BrytonPick

I was sent 2 pieces of BrytonPick to be reviewed in this blog.  For those who are not familiar about the product, BrytonPick is a small device that was developed to make flossing easier, more accessible and less wasteful.  Unlike the common thread dental floss, BrytonPick is made of very thin and flexible surgical stainless steel plate.  Thus making it reusable for up to 30 days.

When I first saw the product, I was a little hesitant to use it because the steel part looks hard and sharp.  After I opened the package, I was so surprised to feel how thin and flexible the steel is.  Closest comparison is that of an aluminum foil.

Following the directions on the packaging, I used it in front of a mirror and was so happy on how easily it goes in between each tooth.  Because of its unique design, I was in full control of my flossing.  I didn't hurt my gums during the process and had no bleeding at all.

One big disadvantage I found out is that it's a little difficult to reach and floss the back teeth.  Also, I'm not sure if the product will last for 30 days as promised in the package.  I've only used it 5 times and the left side is already flimsy.

Overall, I give BrytonPick a Nanay's rating of 8 (in a scale of 1-10 where 10 is the highest).  This unique product has definitely made flossing easier, faster and more convenient.

Note:  Aside from the samples, I was not compensated in any other form to do this review. Also, the above post is all about my personal view and experience using the item.
